We have stayed in a 4 bedroom lodge before in IoW which was great. This time we stayed in a 3 bed with the 2nd bed being two singles which didn’t work for us. I do think the kitchens are very poorly equipped with utensils, bowls, saucepans, serving bowls etc. That would be my only criticism.

Fantastic holiday and can highly recommend the bakers arms pub to eat in.

Accommodation is a great size and very clean. The bathroom to the main bedroom was looking a little battered and could have done with a lick of paint as the skirting boards looked like there had been several leaks from the shower over time.

Staying in the Hazel3 lodge, which is decorated beautifully. The location of Wareham Forest lodge retreat is perfect for wherever you want to go in Dorset. In our short 4 nights we have ventured to Poole, Bournemouth, Swanage, Lulworth and Studland. Check in was very easy, I received a call around 2.30pm to say the lodge was ready earlier for us, although the boys were stuck into crabbing in Poole Quays so we didn’t arrive until 4.30 but it was a short wait to get the key for our lodge, we were delighted with the coffee and condiments left for us when we let ourselves in. It was rather warm so I dashed back round the corner to guest services as I noticed a sign regarding fan hire, having had a full hysterectomy just over 3 weeks ago, I’m permanently hot and being away from home without my trusty dyson fan was one of my main concerns but being able to hire a fan for just £5 for the duration of our stay was incredibly helpful. The decor in the Hazel3 is so to my taste I have booked a joiner to recreate the panelled wall at home (not even joking!) we have all found it so comfortable. The washing machine has been a god send (though put it on when you go out!) the fridge freezer is a perfect size, basically everything you need for a family to live is here. Pretty sure I saw someone have a Sainsbury’s delivery on the Monday we arrived which is an excellent idea, one we might arrange ourselves next time! Why is this not a 5* review? We’re staying in lodge 54, I think we are probably one of the lodges that is closest to the road. Whilst not an overly busy road, it is serviced by a noisy bus, traffic does hit some speed and if a motorbike passes you know about it. From 6am the traffic really does disturb you, especially as we have had the windows open during this heatwave. Also for the first few days the barrier had broken so was permanently up. This did leave me with some concern to safety, especially with our proximity to the road and anyone and any vehicle could enter without being questioned. Although this made it easier when we had a Dominos pizza delivered on the Tuesday! We have rebooked already before we have even left for a 7 night stay next year because the location and standard of the lodge is perfect and there is so much more we would like to see and do in Dorset. I hope there is some way of requesting a Hazel3 lodge that isn’t located next to the road as no doubt it would make our next stay a 5*

This is my 4th stay with a Darwin Escapes lodge. Good accommodation as usual however on this occasion the 2 twin rooms, the beds were short and not standard size. This was very disappointing as we have never had this before. Plus we were a party of 6 adults so the beds were highly inappropriate. Sofa was hard, and there weren’t enough seats in the living room (5 only). We had to bring one of the patio chairs in otherwise it was a hard dining chair. Dining table struggled to accommodate 6 chairs around it also.
