1. See seals in their natural habitat

Blakeney Point is a truly special place anytime of the year. The most popular attractions are the seals however there is an abundant array of other wildlife and birds to be seen. The best way to get close to the nature and see the wildlife, especially the seals, is by enjoying a trip on one of the local boats. It is possible to walk out to The Point from Cley, however this is not for the faint-hearted and the route is not an easy one across the marshes, shingle banks and dykes.

2. Head into the forest at Thetford

Thetford Forest is Britain’s largest lowland pine forest offering a range of activities from gentle walks and cycle paths to the adrenaline pumping Go Ape, a high-wire forest adventure course of rope bridges, Tarzan swings and zip wires up to 15 metres high in the trees, and a challenging 10-mile Black Run for mountain bikers.

3. Taste the famous Cromer Crab

Head to Cromer and enjoy some of the renowned Cromer Crab. There are plenty of stalls selling this fresh local delicacy. Usually cleaned and dressed in their shells, where better to enjoy them than on the beach as part of a picnic.

4. Explore the royal family’s retreat

Sandringham is the county retreat of the royal family and opens to the public during the summer months. The house, set in 60 acres of stunning gardens, is at the heart of the much larger Sandringham Estate. This comprises woodland, heath and a Country Park, with waymarked nature trails and numerous paths in the woodlands to explore every day of the year.

5. Cruise on the Broads

To enjoy a truly beautiful wetland landscape with huge open skies, more than 120 miles of waterways and lakes take a cruise from one of the many departure points on the Norfolk Broads. This is a uniquely beautiful environment shaped by people working hand in hand with nature over thousands of years. Artists and photographers have long been inspired by the play of light on open water and the vast skies. Many of the scenes recorded by painters in the 19th century remain essentially unaltered today. Wind pumps, church towers, woodland and the white sails of boats on the rivers are still striking vertical features in an otherwise horizontal world.

6. Watch the sunset on Hunstanton beach

Hunstanton is an attractive Victorian seaside town with a friendly holiday atmosphere, known for its unique striped cliffs – eroded by the sea, the cliffs now reveal multi-coloured layers of rock. However it is the magnificent sunsets a result of its position as the only west-facing resort on the east coast of England – that draw people to the resort.

7. Visit an exotic coastal garden

East Ruston Old Vicarage garden is an exotic coastal garden that has won many accolades. A feast of formal design, decorative exuberance and brilliant planting the separate gardens offer varying moods. Sculptures, lavishly planted pots and finely detailed walls and gates play their decorative part

8. Walk the coastal path

It’s clear why artists and writers as well as holidaymakers have flocked to the Norfolk coast for years. Along this stunning coastline you will find beautiful stretches of soft golden sands and pebbled beaches, salt marshes as well as traditional family resorts. The Norfolk Coast Path follows the North Norfolk coastline for nearly 50 miles between Hunstanton and Sheringham. There is a good selection of circular walks using the trail along various stretches of its length.

9. See the last end-of-the-pier show

Cromer is a classic British seaside town. Beautiful landscaped cliff gardens and the promenade overlook fine sandy beaches and the delightful Victorian pier. As befits such a resort, Cromer claims that its annual summer show is the last remaining end-of-pier show. Providing old-fashioned, family entertainment, the show is a throwback to the British seaside’s heyday.

10. Step back in time at Gressenhall Farm

Gressenhall brings together a museum, traditional farm, historic workhouse and beautiful grounds to offer a fascinating journey through the story of rural Norfolk. See recreations of traditional cottages and shops. Relax in delightful gardens or take a stroll round the working farm with its rare breed animals.
